The AFL-CIO Women in Leadership Conference brings together women from across New Jersey who share two bonds: union sisterhood, and the desire to reinforce and strengthen their leadership skills. An annual event, this year featured a keynote address from Senator Andy Kim, as well as hearing from one of the leaders of the SAG-AFTRA strike who addressed how women get demonized for behaving as strong leaders while men are seen as being “assertive”. There was also a workshop by one of President Liz Shuler’s top advisers, and a session on maintaining health and wellness even though your life may feel like it is not always in control. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, learn, and have a great time!
